This novel, Between the lines, is talkin about a girl and a prince who want to get out of their life.

Delilah was a pretty normal high school student, who couldn't fit in school life, but had a best friend, Jules.

Prince Oliver was a fictitious character, who existed in the novel.

One day, a creepy thing happened.

Delilah and Prince Oliver could talk with each other...

Delilah gradually fell in love with Oliver while helping him out of the story, and so did Oliver.

However, a story couldn't be changed once it was told to others.

They failed, failed, and failed, but never gave up.

Then finally, they got the happy ending.

Like at the end of story, the author wrote, "Everyone deserves a happy ending."

After reading...

Like most of the readers, I like the idea that story characters live their own life when the story isn't read by people.

Also, those characters have their own personality, not writer created them to be. For them, maybe the story is kind of like their job. They are performers, performing the same story again and again.

What's more interesting, the dog can not only bark, but also speak, and so do all the animals.

However, what I feel disappointed for this book is the ending.

Edgar and Oliver exchange their life, the real one and the fictitious one.

Although Edgar rewrote the story, which he like to live with, I feel the final result is not good.

Oliver came to the real world, and finally could live with his love, Delilah. It is his and Delilah's happily ever after.

How about Edgar?

He can't live the book for good.

People grow up. People change.

I don't see if the happy ending is the happy ending.

Maybe...

when Edgar live in the book for a long time, he felt boring?

when Delilah go to college, she changes her mind, crushes another guy?

when Oliver live in the real world for a while, he changed? or maybe he never fits in the lifestyle of real world?

Perhaps, if I read the book when I was a teenager, I would feel the novel is great.

I changed. I think more in a complicated way.

To sum up, I like the novel.

It seems it has magic that you can't stop turn over page by page.

I like the main idea of the book, which is characters have their own life and own unique personality.

More, readers can connect them to talk, but first of all, you have to concentrate and believe and so on.

Althouth the ending makes me feel disappointed a little, I still recommend this novel to teenagers who still have dreams in their minds.

Quotes:

1. "Everyone Deserves A Happy Ending."--------------------------p312

I think this sentences is more likely the central idea of the novel.

2. "The author builds a house, but the reader makes it a home."-----------p287

Authors creat stories. Readers read; however, every readers have different feelings about the story because every readers think different. More precisely, everyone has their own unique imagination, so in every readers' mind, characters look different. To sum up, why I like this one is because I think it describes well the partnership between authors and readers.
